FirmTek has announced the shipment of its anticipated SeriTek/2SE4 PCI-X adapter. Announced at Macworld Expo in San Francisco, the solution provides Macintosh G5 desktops with high-performance Serial ATA connections for up to 20 drives, each with transfer rates as high as 3 gigabits per second. With potential aggregate speeds beyond 700 megabytes per second, this solution allows streaming of multiple uncompressed high definition video streams, and enables numerous other applications in video production, photography, and archiving, as well as activities involving large media or image files. The SeriTek/2SE4 is priced at US$199.95.
