Destineer’s MacSoft unit today announced that Epic Games has released a Universal Application for Unreal Tournament 2004 (199 MB). The universal application for Mac OS X brings MacSoft’s Unreal Tournament 2004 current to the 3369.2 patch. “The speed gains we’’re seeing on the new iMacs are simply incredible,” said MacSoft General Manager Al Schilling. “Our time-demo comparisons show that Ryan has managed to literally double the frame rate of UT04 as compared to running on the iMac G5.

Apple nabs top spot in European education

According to a report from Macworld UK, Apple has confirmed it has taken the number one spot in the Western European education market. The company’s education market share in the region is now 15.2 percent, placing Dell, with 14.7 percent, to second place. Gartner analyst Isabelle Durand confirmed: “During the fourth quarter 2005, Apple became the number one PC vendor in the Western European Education market.
