OWC launches new Extreme G4 processor upgrade, lowers prices

Other World Computing (OWC) today announced the introduction of a new Mercury Extreme G4/1.3-1.33GHz processor upgrade for US$259. OWC also has lowered prices on its 1.2GHz model to $229. All Mercury Extreme G4 processor upgrades are designed for plug-and-play installation and include 256K of 1:1 L2 cache on-chip and 2MB of high-speed L3 Cache. Forbes: ‘Apple Pullback Creates Buying Opportunity’

Gene Munster, an analyst with Piper Jaffray, has maintained an “outperform” rating and US$103 price target on Apple after last month’s NPD data showed iPod sales tracking in-line with estimates, reports Forbes. “We would be buyers of Apple on [the recent] pullback given we believe iPod demand will accelerate in mid-calendar 2006, based on upcoming positive seasonality and new form factor iPods,” wrote Munster in a research note yesterday.
