Speck announces CableGuys products now shipping

Speck Products today announced that CableGuys products are in stock and shipping. The Audio/Video cable for 5G iPods with video allows users to plug an iPod into their TV, and retails for US$19.95. The Audio Cable 3-Pack includes a home stereo cable, computer speaker cable, and a headphone splitter, retailing at $24.95 for the set of three cables. An iPod to USB cable is available online only, priced at $19.95. Speck is also offering a “Mystery Case of the day” offer for $9.99.

Apple cuts deal with French business school

Apple yesterday announced a deal in France, whereby the company will “work closely with HEC, a business school located near Versailles, on integrating iPods and other digital technology into classrooms and curricula. It’s the first such relationship Apple has struck in Europe, following the model of similar deals with Stanford University and Duke University in the U.S.,” reports BusinessWeek.

New Sony MiniDisc to support Macs

Sony has unveiled its new MiniDisc MZ-RH1, which the company calls a mobile recording studio. The unit will record audio with several different modes, depending on location, and can play inearPCM, ATRAC (ATRAC, ATRAC3, ATRAC3plus) or MP3 format, reports Macworld UK. In addition, the MZ-RH1 will be Mac-compatible, which Sony says brings “greater choice in digital audio devices to Mac users.” The Mac software is expected to be available this summer.

MacProgramGuide released as Universal Binary

CoolMacSoftware today announced the second beta release of its free television listing software,
MacProgram Guide, an electronic program guide for North American TV listings, including
off-the-air, cable and satellite program and channel listings. The software displays program descriptions, episode and rating information, and features a searching capabilities for determining when a show airs. Apart from Universal Binary support for Intel-based Macs, this release adds new navigation controls, and integrated Amazon search.
