QUAKE 4 SMP 1.2 patch released

Aspyr Media today released a free update for QUAKE 4, which updates any previous version of QUAKE 4 to version 1.2 (Universal). This update addresses issues found in both multiplayer and single player since the release of the game, and includes several new multiplayer maps. In addition to the changes and fixes outlined below, this update enables QUAKE 4 to take advantage of the SMP of Intel Core Duo Processors.

The iPod Garage Web site has officially changed its name to iProng today, along with a giveaway. “After more than two years of operation, iPodGarage.com has changed its name to iProng today in order to reflect the fact that the iPod universe now centers around more than just the iPod itself. The name change is reflective of the fact that the iPod universe is now multi-pronged, equally comprised of the iPod, iTunes, podcasting, music, video, and more.

SmileOnMyMac acquires Textpander

SmileOnMyMac has acquired Textpander, the customizable typing timesaver tool, from developer Peter Maurer. The utility, which lets users define abbreviations for frequently-used text strings and images, will be updated and released as part of the SmileOnMyMac product line shortly. The update will include new features, and a modified product name, TextExpander. Specific features, release date and price have not been finalized.

MAXON announces the release of CINEMA 4D R9.6

MAXON today announced its second free update for CINEMA 4D this year. Release 9.6 has more than 40 improvements over R9.5, with most of the improvements have been made to OpenGL display speed, compositing functionalities and the Content Browser. The company notes that “Macintosh users will immediately notice a much faster OpenGL editor preview, with increases in speeds of up to 50% on newer systems.
