Xeric Design has released EarthDesk 3.5, a major upgrade to its popular dynamic desktop map application. EarthDesk replaces your static desktop picture with an animated, real-time rendered image of the Earth, continuously updating in the background while you work. Version 3.5 features Universal Binary support for Intel-based Macs; cloud images are now date-verified to be newer than the previous image; and the cloud server list is now updated weekly. Fox TV shows now on iTunes

Another TV network has been added to the roster on iTunes. News Corp.’s Fox network has struck a deal to provide “24” and “Prison Break,” as well as FX Network shows such as “The Shield” for US$1.99 per episode, reports Reuters. iTunes has also started to sell episodes of older series, such as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Lost in Space,” notes the story.

Pyramid Design has enhanced its space simulator, A-OK! The Wings of Mercury, with improved networked space mission performance. This feature allows up to 10 other users to log on the simulator and act as mission controllers. The educational product, which is available on Windows XP and Mac OS X, also has increased detail in the Mercury spacecraft 3D model.
