Daedale has released MacReporter 2.5, the latest version of its Mac OS X application for tracking headlines from hundreds of Web sites. New features of version 2.5 include: Universal Binary support for Intel-based Macs; tabbed browsing; hierarchical folder; a new interface; import existing news feeds straight from every major news reader on the Mac and OPML files; authenticated news feeds; full keyboard navigation; and more. MacReporter requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later, and is priced at US$24.95.

Pearson to acquire PowerSchool

Apple and Pearson today announced an expansion of their relationship to enhance teaching and learning through technology. Pearson will acquire PowerSchool, Apple’s award-winning student information systems (SIS) division, and develop educational content for teachers and students compatible with iPod. “Apple’s commitment to education has never been stronger, which is why we’re excited to broaden our relationship with Pearson,” said John Couch, Apple’s vice president of Education.

Ben Mackin releases FaxCenter 1.5

Ben Mackin today announced the release of FaxCenter 1.5, an application that sends and receives faxes using almost any fax modem. Prior to payment, FaxCenter allows for unlimited receiving and up to five successful sends. After sending five faxes, no more sending is allowed until the application is registered. However, once the US$10 shareware fee is paid, the application and all future updates are free.
