Techspansion today announced the availability of VisualHub for Mac, an easy-to-use multi-format video conversion program from the creator of iSquint. VisualHub allows users to convert nearly all formats of video to popular formats for playback on iPods, PSPs, DV camcorders, and DVDs. Other formats include MPEG, MP4, WMV and Flash video. Google releases video player for Mac

Google has release a Mac version of its Google Video Player for Mac. The player allows users to watch Google Video from the Desktop. Features include: watch videos downloaded from Google Video; browse scenes within a video using thumbnails; skip to anywhere in the video, even if that portion hasn’t downloaded yet; watch videos in full screen mode; and resume video downloads automatically. Google Video Player requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later and a 1 GHz or faster processor.

I-O DATA today announced the availability of LocationFree software for Mac OS X. When installed on a Macintosh desktop or notebook computer, the TLF-MAC/E software package allows the computer to receive and control streaming video from a Sony LocationFree base station. Users can receive multi-directional wireless transmissions with a range of up to 100 feet in a typical home environment, and high-speed broadband Internet access around the globe.

MacBook heat issues blamed on factory

A story on Macworld UK today notes that Apple has warned Mac users to check the back of their MacBook for signs of a small piece of plastic covering the vent. “First fruit of these investigations: the company published a technical note yesterday, in which it warned that some MacBooks ‘may have left the factory with a thin piece of clear plastic covering the rear vent.’ According to Apple, this thin plastic slice is used in the factory to prevent dust from getting into the machine.
