iLounge posts ‘First Look’ at Nike + iPod Sport Kit

Our colleagues at iLounge have published a “First Look” report on the new Nike + iPod Sport Kit. “Announced in May by Apple and Nike at a joint press event, the Nike + iPod Sport Kit and compatible Nike+ (‘Nike Plus’) shoes are now in stores. Consisting of a small, red and white wireless 802.11 sensor/transmitter and an all-white iPod nano receiver, the Sport Kit tracks a runner’s performance and sends data to the nano for recording and synchronization with iTunes.

Symantec posts ‘Mac OS X: Viruses and Security’

Symantec has published an interesting article concerning viruses on Mac OS X. “Let’s start with the hot-button issue of Mac OS X viruses,” says the column’s author Todd Woodward. “Simply put, at the time of writing this article, there are no file-infecting viruses that can infect Mac OS X. I see some of you raising a hand or two, wanting to ask me some ‘but, what about…’ types of questions.

Remote Buddy preview brings dev tools for Apple’s Remote

IOSPIRIT GmbH has announced the availability of preview 4 of version 1.0 of its application for remote controls for Mac OS X. Remote Buddy enables users to fully control a Mac via its included Apple Remote (or any other supported remote). The new, built-in Behaviour Construction Kit now allows the creation of Behaviours without requiring programming skills. A video on the Remote Buddy Web site shows — using CoverFlow as an example — how to make an application remote control ready within less than five minutes.
