SecureMac releases MacScan 2.2

SecureMac today announced the release of MacScan 2.2, a minor update to its popular anti-spyware program. Starting with MacScan 2.1, MacScan has been totally revamped and is now a Universal Application, which will run natively on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs. Version 2.2 includes the requested integrated update menu for both Engine updates and Spyware Definition updates. In addition to new features, MacScan 2.2 offers greater overall stability, and addresses several bugs reported in version 2.1.

Apple stock irregularities expand in scope

Apple late yesterday said it has discovered more evidence of irregularities related to stock-option grants and warned that it may have to restate earnings back to September 2002, reports MarketWatch. Apple said it will delay filing its report for the latest quarter with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Apple also said it also will likely need to restate results to record non-cash charges for compensation expense relating to past stock-option grants.

French iPod/iTunes law kicks in

A new law passed in France recently that lets regulators force Apple to make its iPod player and iTunes online store compatible with rival offerings went into effect today, reports the Associated Press. “The Internet copyright law passed France’s parliament June 30 after fierce debate and a gradual weakening of its initial punch.
