Fastmac announces PowerBook Pismo upgrade

Fastmac today announced an extended life battery upgrade for Apple’s PowerBook Pismo. The new 84 Whr battery uses Lithium-Ion cells (with integrated charge indicator LEDs) that are manufactured to the “highest quality standards” and utilizes TruePower technology to provide up to 68% more capacity than the original Apple battery, notes the company. Fastmac’s TruePower battery for the PowerBook Pismo is scheduled to ship within 10 days and is available for pre-order from their Web site for a special introductory price of US$139.95.

U.S. Army standardizes on Thursby’s ADmitMac for CAC

Thursby Software Systems today announced that their newest Mac product offering, ADmitMac for CAC (AFC), has been formally accepted as part of the U.S. Army’s enterprise desktop standards. “The U.S. Army’s Technical Authority (TA) Implementation Memorandum establishes minimum baseline computer system configurations within the Army. The latest TA adds the Apple Macintosh as a peer OS and as an alternative to Microsoft Windows XP.
