Hewlett-Packard to sell branded iPod photo

Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas earlier today, Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina said her company plans to offer an HP-branded version of Apple’s iPod photo later this year. HP currently has a deal with Apple to sell fourth-generation iPods under the “iPod+hp” or “Apple iPod from hp” name. That alliance was announced by both companies during last year’s CES. No further details on the HP iPod photo were provided from HP officials.

Griffin to introduce AirClick, SmartDeck products

iPodlounge reports that Griffin Technology will introduce new iPod products at next week’s Macworld Expo in San Francisco. The company’s new AirClick Remote will allow users to control their iPod (play/pause, next/previous, volume up/down) from up to 60 ft. away using RF technology (as opposed to IR). It will be available for both 4G iPods and iPod minis, and will offer iPod photo, enabling users to advance pictures wirelessly.

Piper Jaffray: New iPod rivals still aren’t enough

In a research note to clients Friday, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said the iPod still has no equal, despite a number of new entries coming from CES this week. “After the introduction of a handful of new portable audio devices yesterday at CES, we believe that the iPod is still in position to dominate this market,” Munster said. “Of the other players looking to chip away at Apple’s market share, Creative is gaining the most traction with its Creative Zen Micro. We believe that Creative may have had the most crowded booth at CES.
