Virgin unveils ‘Silver-dollar sized’ 256 MP3 player

Virgin Electronics today unveiled its new 256MB Wearable MP3 Player, a silver-dollar-sized MP3 player weighing only half an ounce. The new player, which comes with an armband and white earbuds, is priced at US$99 and can hold four hours of digital music (about 80 songs), according to the company. Last fall, Virgin Electronics introduced the 128MB Wearable MP3 Player which is priced today at $79.

Australian iTunes Music Store coming tomorrow?

The Age is reporting that Apple is expected to announce the launch of an Australian version of its iTunes Music Store tomorrow at Macworld Expo. “Reports in December suggested Apple had completed negotiations with Australian record companies in the lead-up to a launch early this year,” notes the article. In fact, Apple is believed to have flown senior executives to Australia for the announcement, The Age reports.

LightScribe and LaCie today announced they are partnering to offer direct disc labeling drive for the Mac, allowing users to burn the data side of a disc, then flip the disc over and burn a precise, iridescent label with their desired text and graphics using the same laser that burns the data. No printer, permanent marker or adhesive labeling is required to develop and burn creative designs onto the CD or DVD. LaCie d2 DVD±RW Double Layer drives with LightScribe will be available in early 2005.

CommuniGate Pro 5 to offer Entourage support

Stalker Software today announced that the upcoming version of its flagship product, CommuniGate Pro Real-Time Communications v5.0, will offer integrated support for Microsoft Entourage. Version 5 allows enterprises operating on the Mac OS X platform to support e-mail, contacts, shared folders, calendaring and group scheduling features, while maintaining the Entourage interface that their users are familiar with. CommuniGate Pro Real-Time Communications Server v5.0 is scheduled for release in early spring 2005.
