Griffin FireWave offers surround sound for Mac

Griffin Technology today announced FireWave, a new FireWire accessory that brings 5.1 Surround Sound to any FireWire-enabled Mac. FireWave, which has a small footprint, gets its power through its FireWire connection to the computer, so no separate cables or power supplies are required. In addition, the unit features an extra FireWire port so other devices can be chained through it. FireWave is priced at US$99.99 and is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2005. Griffin intros BlueTrip transmitter for iPod

Griffin Technology today introduced the BlueTrip, a wireless transmitter/receiver combo for broadcasting audio from an iPod to a home stereo. Using Bluetooth technology, BlueTrip consists of a transmitter that connects to and draws power from iPod along with a receiver that hooks to your home stereo. The receiver can connect via RCA, mini jack, or optical audio cables. Pricing has been set at US$149.
