Interarchy 7.3 FTP client released

Stairways Software today announced the release of Interarchy 7.3, the latest version of its powerful, flexible, award-winning Internet application for Mac OS X. Version 7.3 “primarily includes structural changes, completing the long transition to Mac OS X – the last vestiges of Open Transport have been eliminated, localized files are all plist or nibs, only the AppleEvent terminology remains in the resource file,” notes Stairways. .Mac members notified of scheduled maintenance

Apple sent out an e-mail to all of its .Mac members late Monday notifying them of scheduled maintenance this coming weekend. “Dear .Mac Member, .Mac services will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance from Saturday, Jan. 22nd at 10 p.m. until Sunday, Jan. 23rd at 6 a.m. (PST). Included in this outage are all web-based services and iDisk. New iChat sessions will be temporarily unavailable during the beginning of this maintenance period. Email access from a client application, however, will not be affected.

Apple, Pepsi to kick off new iTunes, iPod mini promo [updated]

Following last year’s 100 million song giveaway that kicked off at the Super Bowl, Apple and Pepsi plan this year to give away 200 million free downloads from the iTunes Music Store and 1,700 free iPod minis. “Starting at midnight on January 31, consumers will be able to look for codes under the caps of specially-marked 20-oz. and 1-liter bottles of Pepsi products for alphanumeric codes and a ‘Free song’ message, which provides one free song download from the iTunes Music Store.

FontDoctor 7.0 brings font archiving, restoration

Morrison SoftDesign has released FontDoctor 7.0, a major update to its Mac OS X tool for font problem diagnosis, repair, and organization. The application will scan font folders (on local hard drives or over a network) to locate and repair common font illnesses, including corrupt or damaged fonts, missing Postscript fonts, missing bitmaps, corrupt/damaged fonts, font ID conflicts, extra fonts sizes, mixed fonts types, and more.
