Mac mini offers numerous possibilities for cars

A small New York-based business has announced plans to install the Mac mini in car dashboards. “Melvin Benzaquen, president of Classic Restorations, noticed that the dimensions of the diminutive desktop were just about perfect to fit into the space automakers allot for car stereos. What exactly anyone would do with a Mac in the car is not totally clear, but Benzaquen said there are lots of possibilities, from logging in to one’s home network to playing music or movies.

Apple still dismissing video iPod

Stan Ng, Apple’s director of worldwide iPod marketing, says a video-capable iPod is still not in the cards for Apple. “There is no legal way today of taking a DVD and making it viewable on a portable device. There are issues with video, and no infrastructure for acquiring that content,” Ng said. “For a player with a 3.5-inch screen, you have to wonder if it would be worthwhile. You can’t watch video while you’re jogging or mountain biking.
