ShuffleMate for iPod shuffle introduced

Bruddy Designs today announced the ShuffleMate for Apple’s iPod shuffle. The ShuffleMate combines the functionality of a case with clips and wire management. “The small plastic device snuggly fits either the 512MB or 1GB versions of the iPod shuffle offering protection and convenience… without hiding the elegant design of the Shuffle itself,” notes the company. The ShuffleMate is currently in production and will be available mid-March for US$16.95.

Mac OS X 10.3.8 released

Apple on Wednesday released Mac OS X 10.3.8. According to the release notes, the update “delivers improved compatibility and reliability for Mac OS X v10.3 ‘Panther’ and is recommended for all users.” Apple has also posted Mac OS X Server 10.3.8. As of this posting, neither update is available via the Mac OS X Software Update utility and can only be downloaded from Apple’s site.

Aspyr ends Men of Valor development

Aspyr Media announced today it has cancelled conversion of the Men of Valor game for Mac OS X. “The decision to remove the title from Aspyr’s calendar was a result of several different factors and much deliberation,” the company said in a statement. “Aspyr remains dedicated to continuing to bring high-quality games to Mac users and apologizes for the change of plans.”

ADC posts ‘Working with Xcode 2.0’ article

The Apple Developer Connection (ADC) has published a new technical article in its Tiger Developer Overview Series entitled “Working with Xcode 2.0.” The upcoming release of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger will include Xcode 2.0, Apple’s IDE, which is “updated and improved so that developers can build powerful applications more quickly,” according to the company. Xcode 2.0 includes a new GCC compiler, personalized workspace, visualization tools and fast access to documentation.
