Several readers note that alongside the introduction of new iPod photo and iPod mini models, Apple has apparently discontinued the 40GB fourth-generation iPod. The 20GB model (US$299) is now the only full-size (not mini) iPod with a monochrome display. (The 20GB special edition U2 iPod also remains unchanged.)
