O’Reilly today announced the release of “Mac OS X Tiger in a Nutshell,” by Andy Lester, Chris Stone, Chuck Toporek, and Jason McIntosh. “The most popular and most complete desktop reference book on Mac OS X now systematically documents Tiger (Version 10.4), focusing on the BSD Unix layer. Apple today released Broadband Tuner 1.0. The company says: “The Broadband Tuner allows you to take full advantage of very high speed Internet connections that have a high latency (5 Mbps or greater). The installer tweaks some system parameters.” In addition, Apple says, “The installer increases the default values for the size of the TCP send and receive buffers. With larger buffers more data can be in transit at once.
