Sonnet Technologies has reduced pricing by up to US$50 on several G3 and G4 processor upgrade cards and PCI adapter cards for various PowerBooks and Power Macs. Prices are now as low as $199.95 for the Encore/ST G4 1.0GHz, marking the first time Sonnet has offered a 1.0GHz upgrade for under $200. In related news, FastMac has cut prices for an April Fools “No Fooling” 3-day sale. The company is offering G4 processor upgrades for G3 and G4 Power Macs and 16x Dual-Layer SuperDrives, both starting at $99.95.

Google increases email storage space to 2GB

Today marks the first anniversary of Google’s Gmail email service, and the company has doubled the storage space to 2GB, up from its present 1GB offering, reports AP. The change takes effect today and Google says this increase will not be the last. The company said it will continue to increase storage space based on its user’s needs. “Our goal is to make sure storage is no longer an issue for Web mail users,” said Marissa Mayer, Google’s director of consumer Web products.
