Samsung announces 16X external DVD ReWritable drive

Samsung Electronics today introduced its first external DVD ReWritable drive, the 16X WriteMaster SE-W164C. The new drive is capable of reading and writing in both the DVD+ and DVD- formats with double layer 5x support, and is able to store up to 8.5GB on one disc, which is two times more than a single-layer DVD and 12 times more than a CD. The SE-W164C is currently shipping with an estimated street price of US$199.

Sony announces the Cyber-shot DSC-T5

Sony today announced the Cyber-shot DSC-T5, its newest digital camera. The new camera offers Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar optics with 5.1 megapixel resolution, a 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.5″ Clear Photo LCD screen, 32 MB of internal memory for storage and increased battery life compared to previous T Series models, with up to 240 shots per charge the company says.

TechRestore announces overnight iPod 4G battery upgrade

TechRestore today announced that they have started offering a new overnight iPod battery upgrade service for 4th generation “click-wheel” iPods and all color screen iPod models. The service includes the replacement of the standard iPod battery with a TechRestore 1000mAh high-capacity battery with over 50% more charging power than the original 4th generation iPod battery and 38% more charging power than the original color iPod battery, according to the company.
