QuickTime Update 7.0.2 released

Apple today released QuickTime Update 7.0.2 via Mac OS X’s Software Update utility. Apple says: “QuickTime 7.0.2 delivers numerous important bug fixes and compatibility enhancements. This update is highly recommended for all QuickTime 7 users.” The company also notes that installation of QuickTime 7 will disable the QuickTime Pro functionality in prior versions of QuickTime, such as QuickTime 5 or QuickTime 6.

Apple introduces iPod nano

Apple today introduced the iPod nano, a full-featured iPod that holds 1,000 songs yet is thinner than a standard #2 pencil and less than half the size of competitive players, the company says. The iPod nano, which replaces the iPod mini, features an ultra-portable, lightweight design with a color screen, Apple’s patent pending Click Wheel and the ability to hold 1,000 songs or 25,000 photos.

Apple partners with Acura, Audi, Honda & Volkswagen

Apple today announced it has teamed up with Acura, Audi, Honda and Volkswagen to provide iPod integration with their car stereos for 2006 model lines. “Seamless integration of iPods in cars allows music lovers to enjoy high-quality sound through their car’s stereo system, easily access their entire music library and take their music with them everywhere they go,” notes the announcement.
