Shares of Apple Computer today rose five percent today, on investor’s expectation that the company will announce a new iPod product at a special event tomorrow in San Francisco, reports MarketWatch. “Apple shares rose $2.47 to $48.69 in afternoon trading, after earlier touching a new 52-week high of $48.81 on heavy volume. Analysts believe that Apple will either begin making its own iPod-equipped mobile phone or roll out such a device in partnership with Motorola,” notes the report. The company is also expected to unveil a cheaper version of the portable digital music player, the story states.
