Alias today announced that Maya 7, the latest release of the company’s 3D animation and special effects package, is now shipping. New features in version 7 include: new polygonal modeling and UV tools; a new Toon Shader; advanced render layering technology; faster, more seamless connections between Maya and other key production software; and animating characters faster, easier and more accurate, says the company. Maya Complete 7 is priced at US$1,999 and Maya Unlimited 7 is $6,999. Upgrade pricing from Maya 6.5 is $899 for Maya Complete and $1,249 for Maya Unlimited.
