Sonnet Technologies today announced the Tempo-X eSATA 8, a Serial ATA (SATA) host controller with eight external ports for Power Macintosh computers, and the latest addition to the Sonnet Tempo line of products. The adapter utilizes the PCI-X interface to take advantage of the enhanced performance offered in fast Power Mac G5 computers while retaining compatibility in standard PCI slots. Each port is independently capable of data transfer rates of up to 150MB/s, while much higher transfer rates may be achieved when connected drives are grouped in a RAID array. Tempo-X eSATA 8 is available now with a retail price of US$299.95.
