Netopia today announced that it will preview Timbuktu Pro 8.0, the latest version of its remote control software for the Mac, at Macworld Expo in San Francisco this week. Some of the new features of this release include integration with Rendezvous, which the company says “goes beyond Timbuktu Pro’s own multiple security levels and uses system user accounts to create a new type of secure connection that leverages Apple’s existing security.” Another security advancement in version 8 includes strong encryption and data compression using Secure Shell (SSH) connections designed specifically for securely accessing remote computers. Look for Timbukto Pro 8 to be released in late February.
