Synthetik debuts Studio Artist 3.0

Synthetik Software has announced the release of Studio Artist 3.0, the latest version of its graphics synthesizer. Version 3.0 comes optimized for both Mac OS X and OS 9, and includes over 8 hours of QuickTime video tutorials and instructional guides. A host of new features include a new Vectorizer raster to vector synthesizer with EPS output capabilities, MSG (modular synthesized graphics) plug-in architecture, live video processing, enhanced animation capabilities, and greatly expanded image processing and Paint Synthesizer functionality.

PBS’ Cringley predicts cheaper iPods, video iPod for 2004

Robert X. Cringley, author and technology writer for PBS, says Apple will introduce cheaper iPods as well as a video iPod in his predictions for 2004. Cringley says the cheaper iPods will use flash memory instead of a hard drive (mirroring recent reports), and that we should expect a video iPod by next Christmas, which will essentially be “a hard drive with a dedicated DV encoder/decoder and a FireWire interface.

DriveSavers announces Enterprise Systems Group

DriveSavers this week will announce that it has opened an Enterprise Systems Group to keep up with the demand for the recovery of NAS, SAN Devices, RAID and other enterprise-level storage devices. The company recovers information from damaged hard drives when a computer, notebook or digital camera crashes. At this week’s Macworld Expo the company will be displaying the “Amazon PowerBook,” an Apple portable recovered from the bottom of the Amazon River, as well as other computers from the “DriveSavers Museum of Disk-asters.
