Apple the most innovative company in past 75 years

Apple is viewed as the most innovative company of the past 75 years, according to a recent survey conducted by BusinessWeek. Apple, which received 35% of votes, was followed closely by Microsoft with 32%, and Pixar with 31%. Microsoft chairman Bill Gates (50%) did, however, beat out Apple CEO Steve Jobs (47%) as the most innovative CEO. More than half named the personal computer (56%) and the Internet (51%) as the greatest innovations.

Apple disputes Real’s market share numbers

by Larry Angell – RealNetworks said today that it sold more than 3 million songs during its three-week “Freedom of Choice” promotion, which slashed song pricing at the company’s music store to 49 cents and album pricing to $4.99. The company boasted that its digital music market share rose to 20 percent from 10 percent thanks to the sale, and that Apple’s 70 percent share dropped to 60 percent.

Yazsoft has released Speed Download 2.3.6, an update to its download manager for Mac OS X. Version 2.3.6 is updated and optimized for Mac OS X 10.3.5, and offers better integration with Safari, full support for all .DMG files, improved downloading of queued items, and more. In addition, the developer said that Speed Download has been moved to Apple’s Xcode for better performance. Speed Download is priced at US$20.
