Kurzweil 3000 gets new education features

Kurzweil Educational Systems today introduced Kurzweil 3000 for Macintosh Version 3, reading, writing and learning software for struggling students. The release adds a new network edition that enables more students to access to Kurzweil 3000 across a network. In addition, new writing, vocabulary-building and document preparation features have been added in Version 3 to both the network and standalone editions, which are scheduled to ship in November.

Xten announces eyeBeam VoIP Softphone for Mac OS X

Xten will be demonstrating new versions of eyeBeam on both Mac OS X and Windows systems at VON (booth No. 833). SmartDisk expands FireLite portable hard drive line

SmartDisk today introduced three new versions of its popular FireLite line of portable hard drives — the FireWire 800 FireLite 80GB, the FireWire FireLite 100GB and the USB FireLite 100GB. Featuring a silver-colored magnesium casing, the FireLite drives are palm-sized and weigh about six ounces. Capacities include 40GB, 60GB, 80GB and 100GB versions. They are “Mass Storage Class” peripherals, requiring no driver installation when used with operating systems like Mac OS X, Mac OS 9, Windows XP and Windows Me. Pricing was not announced.

FileMaker today announced software updates for FileMaker Pro 7 and FileMaker Developer 7. The FileMaker Pro 7 v3 update offers more than 300 improvements in areas such as text editing, layout editing, scripting, calculations, portals, value lists, import/export, find, spell-checking, security and Japanese language functionality. The FileMaker Developer 7 v3 update addresses several areas, including the script debugger, DDR and Developer Utilities, text editing, layout editing, scripting, calculations, portals and more.
