Microsoft today announced the immediate availability of Virtual PC 7, the long-awaited new version of the company’s PC emulation software. Virtual PC 7 brings G5 support, improved performance (by up to 30 percent), better graphics handling, Fast Save (close the app with one-click, saving the PC state in the background), easier printing and installation, expanded preferences, and more. Virtual PC 7 with Windows XP Professional is available for US$249. It is also available as part of Microsoft Office 2004 Professional Edition for $499 ($329 upgrade for owners of Office 2004). Microsoft said that other editions of Virtual PC 7 (Windows XP Home Edition, Windows 2000 Professional, Standalone and Upgrade) will be available in the coming months.
