Greg Gatlin of the Boston Herald says that while Macworld Expos are usually very exciting, this week’s event in Boston “will be lucky to elicit a yawn.” With Apple absent from the exhibitors list, Macworld’s return to Boston is looking to draw a lot less visitors than what was originally expected. Before Apple pulled out, the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau predicted that the Boston Expo would draw 40,000 attendees and pump US$42 million into the region’s economy. Now IDG, the company behind Macworld, expects 10,000 attendees, and the visitors bureau has scaled back its estimate to $8.3 million.
