In an article appearing on BusinessWeek today, Eric Wahlgren reports that while Apple’s European iTunes Music Store launch appears to be successful, “drowning out rivals won’t be easy.” The ITMS in Britain, France and Germany launched on June 15th and sold over 800,000 songs in its first week. In spite of this, Wahlgren writes: “Claims by Apple chief Steve Jobs that iTunes Music Store’s performance in the first week makes it ‘Europe’s top online music store’ may be premature.”
