Merrill Lynch analyst Steven Milunovich expects Apple CEO Steve Jobs to introduce a new iMac at next week’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco. He says in a research note to clients that the flat-panel iMac is in dire need of an update, having gone 27 months in the current form factor. (A major upgrade is usually released every 18 to 24 months.) Even Apple itself mentioned poor iMac sales in its March 10-Q, which stated, “The current flat panel iMac and eMac form factors are approximately 2 years old, which continue to contribute to declining net sales.”
