Canon today announced the new PowerShot S60 digital camera, which combines five-megapixel resolution, a newly developed 28-100mm UA wide-angle 3.6x zoom lens for creative control and a slender shape for added portability. In addition, the S60 features a faster start up time and a macro function that allows photographers to shoot a subject from as close as 1.6 inch. The camera’s optional Tele-converter extends the focal length to 200mm. The Canon PowerShot S60, which is expected in June for an estimate street price of US$499, comes bundled with a battery pack and charger, USB cable and 32 MB Compact Flash card. Optional accessories include a new waterproof case, Conversion Lens Adapter, 2.0x Tele-converter TC-DC10, a and Wireless Controller.
