The European Union has hit Microsoft with a record fine of 497.2 million euros (US$611.8 million at the current exchange rate) for violating antitrust laws, reports Reuters. The company has four months to change the way it does business in Europe and the EU commission “ordered the unbundling of Windows Media Player within 90 days and required that ‘complete and accurate’ information be given to rival makers of computer servers within 120 days.” Microsoft has said it will appeal the ruling.
