In a new Wall Street Journal article [paid subscription required], Apple CEO Steve Jobs makes it clear that Apple will fall short of its 12-month goal of selling 100 million songs by the end of April. “We’re not going to make that number,” Jobs said. “At the rate we’re at right now, we’ll probably have sold 70 million to 75 million songs” by the end of April. Jobs said that the redemptions from the Pepsi-iTunes promotion “aren’t what we thought they might be,” adding that many of the Pepsi bottles with the winning bottle caps were distributed late.
