Dantz has announced the immediate availability of Retrospect 6.0, the latest version of the company’s popular backup and restore software. The Desktop edition (US$129; $59.95 upgrade) of Retrospect 6.0 offers protection for Macs running Mac OS X Panther, delivers “significantly improved” backup performance, and can protect up to three networked Mac, Red Hat Linux, or Windows machines. The Workgroup ($499; $199 upgrade) and Server ($799; $349) editions of Retrospect 6.0, which protect critical data on larger networks of computers, now back up Xserve RAIDs hosting multiple terabytes of data, support SCSI and Fibre Channel tape libraries, and also offer improved backup performance and Panther support. Electronic downloads of Retrospect 6.0 can be purchased immediately, while the boxed product is expected to ship in mid-February.
