Objective Development announces Little Snitch 1.1 for Mac OS X

Vienna, Austria – January 14, 2003 — Today Objective Development announced
the availability of Little Snitch 1.1 for Mac OS X, a must-have security
application that monitors outgoing network connections.

If you do not like the idea of information possibly being gathered from your
computer and being sent to who-knows-where for who-knows-what,
Little Snitch helps.

When opening applications some of them want to connect back to their authors’
server, for instance to check for new versions. Some of them don’t even tell
you or ask for permission and you cannot control which information they send
back. This is where Little Snitch jumps in: It pauses the application and
brings up an alert, telling you which application tries to connect to which
server. The remote server will only be contacted if you explicitly allow it.
For routine decisions, Little Snitch can be configured. By creating rules you
can always block or allow particular connections.

What’s new since version 1.0.3?

– Temporary rules: These rules are automatically deleted when the related
application quits. Creation of temporary rules is useful for testing whether
the newly created rule corresponds to your needs before making them

– This version is compatible with OS X 10.3 (Panther) including
Fast User Switching.

– Now Little Snitch provides improved reliability on attacks against Little
Snitch itself. Little Snitch now reactivates itself if a different kernel
module kicks it out of the kernel.

– Better support for full screen applications which hide Little Snitch’s alert:
If the alert is not handled within a configurable timeout, it confirms

– Lots of minor improvements and bug fixes, see
