Sonnet Technologies today introduced the “fastest single processor Macintosh upgrade ever developed” with the announcement of the new Encore/ST G4 1.2 GHz processor upgrade for the Power Mac G4. This upgrade utilizes the 745X series of Motorola G4 chips, has 2MB DDR (Double Data Rate) L3 backside cache, and delivers processor performance of up to three times that of the original systems. FireWire Depot showing new enclosures at Macworld Expo

FireWire Depot today announced their presence at Macworld Expo (booth #1443) this week. The company said that it will be showing several new products at the event. These include new 2.5″ enclosures, combo enclosures, and other products. Also, starting next week the company will begin shipping the Speedzter3 and Speedzter5 enclosures with the new modified Oxford 911 bridgeboards allowing you to use any size hard drive including the Western Digital 200GB and IBM 180GB.

Merril Lynch rates Apple as “sell”

Apple shares fell slightly in after-hours trading Monday after Merrill Lynch reinitiated its coverage on the company with a “sell” rating. According to CBS Marketwatch, Merrill analyst Steve Milunovich said that Apple appears to be dealing with a thin pipeline for new products and he expects the company to continue to lose market share.
