Glucose releases WeatherPop 1.6.5

Glucose today released WeatherPop & WeatherPop Advance 1.6.5, its popular Mac OS X utilities that display current weather conditions in your menu bar. This update offers several minor localization improvements and changes related to the Feels Like feature introduced in WeatherPop 1.6.4. In addition, changes in one of WeatherPop’s data sources starting Tuesday, Jan 7, resulted in some missing data in current conditions for US users, and this release addresses that. WeatherPop is freeware and WeatherPop Advance costs US$8.

SmartDisk announces PowerPlay for presentations

SmartDisk has introduced its new PowerPlay remote control and laser pointer for media presentations, which features a 900 Mhz radio frequency signal with a range of up to 35 feet, even through walls and other obstacles. It is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh versions of PowerPoint and with all brands of projectors. The computer automatically recognizes PowerPlay as a keyboard class device, eliminating the need to install software.

CommandSets.com site delivers voice commands

Chuck Rogers Consulting has announced CommandSets.com, a Web site dedicated to the distribution of voice commands for iListen, ViaVoice, and Apple’s PlainTalk. Command Sets with thousands of unique commands will be introduced later this month for most of Apple’s iApps, the Microsoft Office Suite of applications, BBEdit, Acrobat and Acrobat Reader, America Online, Quicken, QuickBooks, and FileMaker Pro — with more to follow.
