OWC introduces 52x Mercury Pro CD-RW FireWire drives

Other World Computing (OWC) has introduced two new external CD-RW FireWire drives that operate at 52x speeds and allow users to burn CDs in less than 90 seconds. The new 52x-speed Mercury Pro drives are compatible with both Mac and Windows-based systems with FireWire or USB support, and feature Lite-On SMART-BURN technology. Each drive ships with 25 pieces of CD-R media, one piece of CD-RW media, Roxio Toast Lite 5.2.x and all connecting cables.

1394 Trade Association elects Apple’s Eric Anderson as Chairman

The 1394 Trade Association elected Eric Anderson, Apple’s FireWire software manager, as its 2003 chairman, with Max Bassler of Molex Inc. as vice chair, during its first quarter meetings last week. The group also set its next Compliance and Interoperability Workshop for Feb. 3-5 at the Embassy Suites in Burlingame, California. It will provide a complete set of test suites designed to ensure that consumer, computer, and industrial products equipped with 1394/FireWire work together.
