Desktop pictures weekly recap

Over the course of the past week, MacDesktops has posted 14 new desktop pictures, including: Honor, Courage, Strength (September 11, 2001), Nikita (Logos, Apple), and Think Gorgeous (Apple – iMac, 2002). Mandolux has issued seven new desktops this week: three Vector/Graffiti (Abstract), three Giant Petals (Nature/Macro), and one Technosis/Anthraxis (Abstract) desktop. Apple acknowledges Keynote problems

Apple today confirmed the problems that some customers are experiencing with Keynote, its new presentation software, reports c|net. “Apple has identified a bug in the driver software for certain ATI graphics chips which can affect a small number of systems when used with Keynote,” the company said. “Apple is working on an updated driver which should be available to customers shortly.”

Apple has added new stories from real people to the “Switch” section of its Web site, with submissions from a professor who describes himself as “a total technopeasant,” a psychotherapist whose patients thought he was crazy for buying an iMac, a grandmother who loves iCal and Safari, and more.

eMac, iDVD chosen in Videomaker Best Products of the Year Awards

Videomaker Magazine has picked the eMac as winner of its 2002 award for “Best Turnkey Editing System Under $2,000” and iDVD as “Easiest DVD Authoring Software.” The magazine praises iDVD 2, calling it “by far the easiest introductory DVD authoring application” they’ve seen, and that “nothing on any platform matches iDVD 2 in terms of usability and price.”

Apple delays iLife

Apple said today that it will delay shipment of iLife, its new suite of iApps that debuted at Macworld Expo earlier this month. “We will be shipping our iLife retail package and making iPhoto 2 and iMovie 3 available for download on our Web site by Jan. 31, a week later than we originally announced,” Apple said in a statement. The company did not provide a reason for the delay.
