Other World Computing (OWC) today announced the addition of a 250GB drive to its popular line of Mercury Elite Pro external FireWire storage solutions. The new 250GB model operates at 7200RPM, offers 8MB of cache, measures 1.5 x 9.0 x 5.5 inches and weighs less than 3 pounds. It is available immediately for US$479. Unsanity releases Labels X update

Unsanity today released Labels X 1.1.2, a free update to its haxie that adds file labeling features to Mac OS X. It allows you to apply various color tints to file icons, and sort the files by label. The new version includes an option to change file modification date on label change, fixes an incompatibility with Folder Icon X contextual menu module, and fixes a bug causing the Labels X contextual menu to crash the Finder under some circumstances. Additionally, the labels contextual menu is no longer shown for the Desktop folder.

Trinfinity releases free AppleScripts for iTunes

Trinfinity Software has released three freeware, open-source AppleScripts for iTunes that clean up the ID3 tags of the songs in your music library. The “Capitalize Words In Tags” script capitalizes the first letter of each word in the song name, artist, and album tags. It also makes all other characters in the tags lowercase. “Extract Artist From Song Name” removes the artist name from the song name tag and puts it into the artist tag.

Apple has posted a standalone 81.8MB download of iMovie 3.0.2, the latest release of the company’s popular digital video editing application. The new version of iMovie offers better integration with iPhoto and iTunes, pro-quality special effects, powerful new audio editing tools and sound effects from Skywalker Sound, a new resizeable window, the ability to add chapter markers, and much more. iMovie requires Mac OS X 10.1.5 or later.
