FLaunch updated to version 1.2

Pariahware has released FLaunch 1.2, the latest update to its Mac OS X utility that gives users quick access to files via function keys. Each function key can be assigned up to four applications, documents, or “just about anything that can be dragged and dropped from the Finder.” The new version includes a bug fix for a glitch that could have caused the application to crash, and a minor interface update. FLaunch is shareware and costs US$5 to register.

AppMac releases sVideo 2.0

AppMac Software today announced the release of sVideo 2.0, its new bundle of Webcam applications. sVideo Server, the first of the three applications, allows you to share a Webcam or video camera to your network or to the internet. sVideo Monitor allows you to view Webcams shared by sVideo servers. sVideo Community Server helps you create your own community of users of sVideo applications. All of the software works on Mac OS 8/9 and Mac OS X. sVideo Monitor and sVideo Community Server are free, while sVideo Server costs US$59.

Sonnet announces Allegro FW400 FireWire PCI card

Sonnet Technologies today announced the Allegro FW400 FireWire PCI adapter card, which installs into any available PCI slot of a Power Mac or PC and adds the FireWire connections needed to connect high-speed digital peripherals. Each card offers three six-pin external FireWire ports, performs at the data transfer rate of up to 400 Mbits/s, and can connect up to 63 devices. The Allegro FW400 is priced at US$39.95 and will ship on March 31.
