AOL for Mac OS X gains new features

America Online (AOL) today announced a new version of AOL for Mac OS X that gives members “more control over their online experience, greater protection for their privacy and security, and enhanced communication features for e-mail and instant messaging.” AOL for Mac OS X users can also now add the AOL for Broadband service to any high-speed DSL or cable Internet connection using a “bring your own access” (BYOA) plan if they have existing broadband access already

LA Final Cut Pro user group to get sneak peek of FCP 4

The Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group will host an in depth look at Final Cut Pro 4 (set to ship in June) on Wednesday, April 23 at the Digital Cinema Lab, located at 6433 Hollywood Blvd. The doors are scheduled to open at 5:00PM and the event will start at 6:45PM. Final Cut Pro product designer Brian Meaney and FCP product manager Paul Saccone will be down from Cupertino to take questions and gather feedback.

FootTrack lets you organize, search & compress digital video

T-Squared Software has released FootTrack 1.0, a new application that allows you to import, organize and search your digital video tape footage. The software also lets you compress your footage, allowing for more tapes to be stored on your hard drive. A 60 minute tape of digital video takes up approximately 12.5GB of disk. When compressed in FootTrack it takes approximately 180MB including images for each clip. FootTrack runs on Mac OS X and costs US$29.95.

Spire releases new cases for 12, 17″ PowerBooks

Spire has announced Flux, a new slim case designed for Apple’s 17-inch PowerBook. The case is “sleek and sophisticated.
