European Apple Store boss: ‘crisis under control’

Macworld UK reports that Apple has admitted its European online Apple Store experienced “teething problems” this year following the implementation of a new logistics system. The company said that at one time 39 percent of its customers experienced delivery delays. Apple Store Europe director Francois Duquesne insists that “the crisis is now under control” and that Apple now only has problems with “10-15 percent of orders.”

Effect Essentials suite updated to v1.6

Buena Software today released an update to its Effect Essentials suite of plug-ins for Adobe After Effects and Apple Final Cut Pro. Version 1.6 now works in both After Effects and Final Cut Pro on both Mac OS 9 and OS X with one set of plug-ins. In addition, the custom interface elements in the plug-ins now work directly in Final Cut Pro’s effect window, allowing live dragging of the controls and real-time updating of the video. This is a free update to registered users.

Propellerhead announces ReCycle 2.1 for OS X

Propellerhead Software has announced ReCycle 2.1, a new version of its “loop chopping” software. Version 2.1 offers Mac OS X support, multiple undos, and full 24-bit resolution. ReCycle also now comes with Reason Adapted and Reload included, for instant cutting, converting and composing. ReCycle 2.1 is currently being beta tested and is not yet available. When it ships, ReCycle 2.1 will be a free update for owners of v2.0. Full version pricing was not available.

Apple digital music offerings top Prophet brand list

Prophet, a management consulting firm specializing in the integration of brand, said today that Apple’s iPod, iTunes and iTunes Music Store are “brand hits of 2003.” The firm identified a list of three of this year’s brand hits and two of its misses, which provide “a very succinct lesson in the importance of understanding brand’s value to customers, how well the organization delivers on what the brand stands for, and how to make it stretch (or not) into new space to help the business grow.”
