New, exclusive music added to iTunes store

Apple’s “New Music Tuesdays” continue today with additions to the iTunes Music Store from Annie Lennox, Steely Dan, Luther Vandross, Franky Perez, Kenna, Frankie J, Guster, and Reach 454. Apple has also added new music from R. Kelly, R.E.M., Joni Mitchell, Rush, Miles Davis, Memphis Slim & Willie Dixon, and Adam Ant. In addition, exclusive tracks were added from OAR, Beyonce and an all-new super group featuring Scott Weiland, Slash, Duff McKagen, Matt Sorum, and Dave Kushner, which recorded “Set Me Free,” a new song from “The Hulk” soundtrack.

eWeek: 64-bit Macs may outpace ‘Panther’

eWeek reports that Apple is nearing the release of new Power Macs featuring IBM’s 64-bit PowerPC 970 chip — but a 64-bit version of Mac OS X (expected to be the upcoming Mac OS X “Panther”) may lag behind by a month or two. “Sources said that the IBM chip will make its first appearance in a new Power Mac known internally as Q37. However, sources said, Q37 won’t ship with a 64-bit version of Mac OS X, limiting OS performance gains in the initial release.
