Apple releases Xserve RAID Admin Tools 1.1

Apple has posted Xserve RAID Admin Tools 1.1, an update to the remote management software for the Xserve RAID storage solution. “This Java-based application provides an intuitive interface for creating protected storage volumes, logging events, managing preferences, and monitoring storage hardware from virtually any networked computer over TCP/IP,” according to Apple. OpenOffice for Mac OS X delayed until 2006

Development of a native Mac OS X version of OpenOffice has been postponed to early 2006, according to the developers. “All further development of the Quartz and Aqua tracks has been postponed until OpenOffice.org 2.0 due to gsl timeline… Projected OS X native availability of OpenOffice.org 2.0 is currently Q1 2006.” The OpenOffice.org timeline has all the details.

SMDoubleSlider: Open Source

Snowmint Creative Solutions LLC has released an open source double
slider for Cocoa development on MacOS X. The SMDoubleSlider
distribution is available at (http://developer.snowmintcs.com/).

The distribution provides NSSlider and NSSliderCell subclasses which
have two knobs instead of one. The user can slide either of the knobs,
with the limitation that the lower knob is always less than the higher
knob.
