Power Mac G5 unveiled in China at BIRTV Expo

Apple unveiled the Power Mac G5 on Tuesday at the BIRTV Expo (Beijing International Radio, TV & Film Equipment Exhibition) in Beijing, China. The Beijing Macintosh User Group (BeiMac) was present at the launch of the expo, and has a concise report with photos of the event. “Apple’s stand at this year’s BIRTV Expo in Beijing, capital of China, is remarkably larger than that of the previous year,” reports BeiMac.

Site Turbo 1.0 optimizes HTML, Web graphics

Intelli Innovations today introduced Site Turbo 1.0, a Web site optimization tool for Mac OS X. The application optimizes HTML code by removing excess markup tags and white space, which produces pages with smaller file size that load faster in browsers. Site Turbo also optimizes GIF, JPEG, and PNG image files, removing extra resources and other data. In addition, the US$39.95 software can be configured to encode e-mail addresses in processed HTML documents, protecting them from spam harvesters.

The Iconfactory releases ‘Wild West’ icon set

The Iconfactory today announced the release of “Wild West,” a set of freeware icons from resident artist Kate England. The collection “conjures up images of tumbleweeds, ghost towns and tall tales and includes icons that any fan of the old west will love.” The icons are available for Mac OS X as standard format or as an iContainer for use with Pixadex and CandyBar.
