Wacom introduces Graphire3 pen tablets

Wacom on Monday unveiled its new Graphire3 pen tablet lineup. The new tablets, which are now available in either 4″ x 5″ or 6″ x 8″ sizes, come with a pressure-sensitive pen and an ambidextrous mouse that are both cordless and battery-free. They come in a choice of three colors: Sapphire Blue, Pearl White and Graphite Gray. The included pen features 512-levels of pressure sensitivity, built-in eraser, and takes advantage of the handwriting capabilities included with Mac OS X’s Inkwell technology.

Florida teachers losing their Apples

School administrators, teachers and students in Florida’s Pinellas County will soon have to learn Windows as the district slowly replaces its Macs with PCs. “The directive came from Pinellas County superintendent Howard Hinesley, who wants to the district to use one type of computer instead of two,” according to the St. Petersburg Times. “That decision has angered some administrators and teachers who can’t fathom parting with their Apple computers, even if it won’t happen for several years.

AJA cuts pricing on Kona video capture cards

AJA Video Systems has announced reduced pricing on its Kona desktop video products. Kona HD, a high definition capture card for Apple’s Final Cut Pro, is now US$3,995. Kona SD for standard definition is now $2,495. In addition to new pricing for Kona, for a limited time AJA is offering a special bundle price of $4,990 for Kona HD and Io, AJA’s 10-bit uncompressed audio/video FireWire capture device.
